Becoming a Certified SSI Night & Limited Visibility Diver unlocks a new underwater world for you after dark. In addition to learning the skills necessary to safely dive at night, you'll also have the opportunity to observe the unique marine life that only comes out at night. To enroll in SSI's Night & Limited Visibility Course, you must be at least 10 years old and Open Water Certified.
In SSI's Night & Limited Visibility Specialty Course, you'll learn how to safely and comfortably dive in limited visibility conditions (including at night), how to enter and exit the water, how to best communicate with your dive buddy, and more. The academic section of the Night & Limited Visibility class is taken online via SSI's website or the MySSI app. Additionally, you will participate in two open water dives to practice your skills. You will earn the SSI Nigh & Limited Visibility Specialty certification after completing this program.
Like other specialty courses, you are expected to have your own dive equipment to participate in this course. You can also rent equipment such as a BC, wetsuit, regulator, weights, and tank from the Scuba Shop, but the rental fee is not included in the cost of the course. You must have your own primary and back-up dive light for this course.
What To Expect at Your Classroom Session

Our instructor will review the course material and answer any questions you may have about the course before you take the exam. The exam itself is 25 multiple choice questions. The entire classroom session generally takes between 2 – 3 hours from start to finish, depending on the number of and needs of the students enrolled.
